Do Something Awesome; Share With A Friend Who May Benefit

Your job as a mom does not include sick days or vacation time. Being a mom is a responsibility of love that continues 24-hours a day and seven days a week.

Maybe you have decided to stay home like millions of other young parents. However, being at home with your kids does not mean you can’t have a satisfying career that helps to support your household. Do you feel like your life consists of doing dirty dishes, folding laundry, and refereeing sibling spats all day? Could you use some extra cash to help pay the bills or supplement your family savings account without leaving your abode? If you answered yes to those questions, then a work-at-home career may be right for you. Here are four part-time jobs that you can do from the comforts of your home that are worth considering.

Online Tutoring

If you have school-age children, you have plenty of experience helping with homework every evening. There is immense satisfaction when you see a child understand a concept, thanks to your encouragement and instruction.

Several legitimate online companies pay people to tutor children or adults in a variety of subjects. Do you enjoy meeting new people and discovering global cultures? As an online English instructor, you can tutor children and adults from around the world who are learning English as a second language.

Some of these companies only require you to be a native English speaker and have a desire to share your knowledge. Have you always wanted to be a teacher? You can get paid by tutoring school children online with their homework. With any online tutoring job, you will need a reliable, high-speed Internet, a webcam, and earphones with a microphone.

Freelance Writing, Designing, and Programming

Whenever you read an article online or in a magazine, chances are a freelance writer wrote it. Do you have a knack for writing and have always wanted to see your work in print? Put your writing skills to use as a part-time job. Online companies are hiring talented freelance writers every day for just about any subject imaginable. While the kids are at school or taking a nap, you might be writing product reviews or blogs about your favorite hobbies. Many companies hire experienced “ghostwriters” to write articles, blogs, technical papers, or even novels.

If graphic design is your thing, then you can sell your unique creations from home. Skilled computer programmers aren’t always dressed in business suits and sitting in an office.

Medical Billing and Coding

Have you ever wondered who does the mounds of paperwork and accounting in hospitals, clinics, and doctors’ offices across America? Insurance companies and government agencies require a complex system of patient billing using codes for procedures and charges. It is a time-consuming job that most medical facilities would instead outsource. No doubt you have seen endless commercials on television that advertise for at-home employment in medical billing and coding. It’s common for medical coders to work from home, but you need the right equipment.

While some of these companies require applicants to have previous billing and coding experience, some offer online training. When you sign up with a company to do medical billing and coding, you may be working for a specific medical facility or many of them. You will need an up-to-date computer, broadband Internet, and a downloaded billing/coding program specific to your job. If you enjoy working with numbers and don’t mind repetitive and tedious data entry, then you can make decent money in this field part-time.

Transcribing

Many businesses require transcripts of voicemail, procedures, and dictated documents. Have you ever seen doctors or attorneys making verbal notes on hand-held recorders? These notes must be typed out by transcriptionists. To save money and time, lots of these professionals outsource their dictation notes to part-time home transcriptionists, like you. Instead of the old-fashioned dictaphones, modern transcriptionists use recordings programs. It’s an easy way to make some extra money that doesn’t require a great deal of thought. To do this job, you must have good hearing skills, and you need a quiet place to work.

Telecommuting or working from home has become commonplace. As more companies realize the benefits and cost savings to their company, more jobs will open up.

As a mother in the workforce, having the option to stay home opens many doors that weren’t previously available. You can forgo the vast costs of daycare bills and work from the comforts of home. You can be a transcriptionist, ghostwriter, or even a medical coder. The choice is yours.
