Do Something Awesome; Share With A Friend Who May Benefit

There is much to learn, discover, explore, text, and have fun about Science. Sometimes, we can be intimidated because it’s an area where “we don’t know.” And guess what? That’s okay, too – it makes the field different, engaging, exciting, and rewarding. Solving problems, discovering phenomena, and constantly learning and growing make Science so wonderful.

Also, since Science is everywhere – there is no lack of opportunity for discussions, debate, ongoing discoveries, and simply figuring out some of the most significant challenges we face in the world – and searching for those answers. Those “a-ha” moments are all worth it.

Here are the top 7 most important tips I learned from Kate the Chemist: great tips for parents and teachers.

1. What is a Scientist?
Understand the job of a Scientist…That’s what being a scientist is – Having those questions, not knowing the answer, and trying to find it.

2. Admit It!
Not sure what your kids are talking about when it comes to Science? The most
important thing you can do is admit you don’t understand it either! Parents are afraid to announce to their kids, “I don’t know, I’m not sure.”

3. Get Out in Nature
Go out in nature, find the science, ask the questions, and then, most importantly, find the
answer.

4. Take Science Walks
Go for a walk with your family and have it be a Science walk. And, literally – anything your kid looks at -foster that interest. Ask questions about it, take pictures of it, do a reverse Google image search, and….

5. And..
See what you can come up with – because our smartphones are in our hands.
And, it’s so easy to get information quickly.

6. On Chemistry
Chemistry explains everything around us; no matter your question, you can answer it with chemistry.

7. Science is Everywhere!
The colors you’re looking at, why your clothing flows the way it does, what the wind is, how planes work, how your car works, how the cell phone works – it all comes down to atoms and molecules!
