Listen to the latest episode of the EduJedi Report podcast

Host LeiLani Cauthen and Dr. Barbara Nemko, Napa County Superintendent of Schools, Napa County Office of Education in California discuss what the ARRA Stimulus of 2009 did compared to the intention of the new CARES Act.

Many important comments are made regarding caveats for schools and district’s to consider. On superintendents just using the Stimulus to save jobs, Dr. Nemko said, “It’s going to kind of work itself out. I do believe there are a lot of teachers who are not going to want to come back, because of the fear. I think that attrition is going to take care of a lot of the problem. There are a lot of reasons we need to be sure we are getting online and getting with the program. What is terribly important is that we have money for teacher professional development. You have to make sure your infrastructure is good enough. Second thing is, you have to make sure you’re only using the best apps, all apps are not equal. The same way we used to choose textbooks, you would spend six months to a year looking at what’s out there before you would buy. We’re going to see a very different but much more blended model.”

You’ll want to listen to this important podcast and get the most from your CARES Act funding.
